Whirlpool dishwasher motor capacitor question?
Moved my Whirlpool model GU2300XTLQ0 dishwasher and the start capacitor was damaged. It said 27uf at 230vac. It was metal and had a mounting stud to the motor. Locally only available capacitor is black plastic looking and it works but gets really hot and smells so stopped the dishwasher. Do these capacitors normally get hot or might something else be wrong? I bought the capacitor locally for $10 and I see the original part is over $50. Is it all about the metal and mounting stud taking the heat away? I don’t want to waste $50 bucks when the problem is something else. thanks.
I think Mike is correct. As long as you have one str...

The motor blew in my electric lawnmower over the weekend and I’m looking to see whether it is possible to get it replaced or repaired, or whether it is worth it. Could anyone give me some advice, thanks?
At a guess, unless you fancy picking up 2nd hands parts and are handy yourself, I would say that this might prove to be uneconomical to repair. The price of a new electric lawnmower could well come to someone else’s labour repair costs.
Maybe worth though if it’s a good or high spec model.
It’s a flymo, and the only service provider in Dublin seems to be in Donabate. I thought that there might be some handy repair guy around the south city area that might...

I am looking for a replacement capacitor for my bandsaw. It appears that you only sell your products in large quantities, but I was wondering if you had any smaller distributors that might be able to sell me the capacitor I am looking for (CBB60 50 Mfd +/- 5% SH 450 VAC 50/60 Hz 25/70/21 – dimensions are approximately 50 mm X 94 mm). I am located in the USA. Thank you for any assistance you may be able to give.

I’m having difficulty obtaining a capacitor to replace the one in my Dewalt BS1310 bandsaw.
It looks similar in shape to this:
but I’m really not sure that’s the one.
It seems to say this on the side:
NC10168/x-25 +70C
12.5 uF +/- 5% 450v
42/60HZ 79.19
johnstone or grainger will have a capacitor with those specs. you could also call an electric motor repair shop in your area and give them that information, they would be able to help you.

Film capacitors come in a variety of forms, each with its own specific use. Polyester, metallized polyester, polycarbonate, polypropylene or polystyrene line a film capacitor. The lining affects the purpose of the film capacitor.
Business owners looking to buy film capacitor components should consider the benefits of the different types before they buy.
1. Polyester film capacitors have a high dielectric constant as well as a high dielectric strength with volumetric.
2. Metallized polyester film lets capacitors hold up under high-pulsed voltages without breaking the dielectric.
3. Polycarbonate film capacitors offer a wide temperature range while operating and stability even lon...

Capacitors are an inexpensive little component on a PC motherboard, but they can be a costly headache for manufacturers when a whole bunch of them go bad.
Last week, Dell announced it was going to take a $300 million financial charge on its earnings to cover costs associated with the replacement of motherboards with faulty capacitors in some of its Optiplex workstations. The Dell system boards in question were manufactured from April 2003 to March 2004, according to several contract computer repair firms that are starting to replace the systems.
The Round Rock, Texas, computer maker is expected to provide more details during its quarterly earnings call on Thursday.
As Dell execu...
